I double majored in Health, Society & Policy and Honors Psychology, and pursued an Economics minor and  Quantitative Analysis certificate. HSP was a great stepping stone for a career in public service and policy work. I was a Hinckley Intern at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. During my internship, I was able to learn more about the intersection of federal agencies, policy work, and public administration in the area of human services. In D.C. I was able to meet the U.S. Secretary for Health and Human Services, learn more about public agencies' initiatives for reducing domestic violence, and visit a domestic violence intake center. These experiences taught me that while there have been major steps forward in the field of human services, there is still so much to be done, and after this internship, I can see myself working in that field.

Going into my freshman year, I knew nothing about the HSP degree. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to pursue majors that could lead into a career where I could have a positive impact in others' lives. When I learned about HSP, I knew this was the major for me. I felt as if I found my place in HSP and I'm grateful for all of the opportunities this program provided me.
